Lecce is a city in the Puglia region of southern Italy, famous for its Baroque-style buildings. In Piazza del Duomo, in the historic center, stands Lecce Cathedral, characterized by a double façade and a bell tower. The Basilica of Santa Croce is richly decorated with sculptures and a rose window. Nearby are the Column of Sant'Oronzo, topped by a bronze statue of the city's patron saint, and the Roman amphitheater, built partly below ground level.
